At the first RICS China Awards ceremony, held in the Puxi InterContinental Hotel in Shanghai on 28 February 2017, the joint quantity surveying team from Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) and Shenyuan, won the ‘Construction Project Team of the Year’ for Shanghai Tower.

RICS introduced the RICS Awards in China this year to showcase the outstanding achievements and developments in land, property and the built environment in China, and to recognise and reward the elite teams that make a significant contribution to the built environment.

The tallest building in China

Standing at 632 metres, Shanghai Tower is the last of the ‘supertall’ skyscrapers in the core area of Lujiazui, combining office, hotel, convention, commercial and tourism functions in an exciting, innovative, and sustainable design.

Notable features include the double-layer glass structure for sustainability; the 1000-ton heavy shock absorber located on level 126; the rooftop wind turbine (the world’s highest above sea level); and the world’s fastest elevator.

Having achieved LEED Platinum certification and a Three-Star Green Building Design Logo Certificate, Shanghai Tower is regarded as one of the world’s greenest skyscrapers.
