We are always looking for inspired individuals, with well-honed skills, to join our Graduate Training Scheme.

We’re after people with personality and spark, who thrive and enjoy working in a team.

We recruit around 10 to 15 graduates per year. Our graduates are placed in our regional UK businesses, and from there, can apply for exciting opportunities in the UK and across the globe.

Training

We want you to get professionally qualified (MRICS or MCIOB) as quickly and painlessly as possible. Our track record on first-time passes is exceptional, and that’s no fluke.

We’ve spent time and money on a structured training program which includes:

  • Support and mentoring

We employ graduates from both cognate and non-cognate backgrounds through our tailored Protégé program. We also offer placements, sponsorships and internships.

Cognate Applications

If you are studying for an RICS accredited degree in QS/BS/PM or a CIOB accredited degree in PM/CM, then you are a cognate applicant. You could be exactly what we are looking for.

Our first-class APC and PDP programs are RICS and CIOB accredited with an excellent pass rate. We have in-house assessors and counsellors to help you achieve your two-year program to reach chartered status.

Graduate Recruitment: Protégé

Protégé is RLB’s graduate and undergraduate training program.

Our objective

Our main objective is to find the best talent in the industry, with the potential to be the best consulting quantity surveyors, building surveyors, project managers and specialist advisors.

We achieve this by running a rigorous selection process. This will test not only your mental aptitude, but also your social and networking skills.

But it’s not all serious. We’ll add a little fun and competition along the way, with the chance to travel the world, visiting many of our global offices.

Protégé is open to all UK-centric candidates looking for sandwich year out placements (Sponsorship & Internships) or graduate roles in QS, BS, PM and Advisory Services.

Timeframe

The Protégé website accepts applications every autumn, to coincide with university milk-rounds and the graduate recruitment calendar. The application deadline is 1 December, with the assessments held shortly afterwards.

Starting dates can be throughout the year, as early as February, or as late as October.

What if I missed the deadline?

If you missed the application deadline, send a copy of your CV with a covering letter to inbox-protege@uk.rlb.com.

While running Protégé, we will only accept applications through the Protégé website and not via email. On some occasions we have recruited graduates outside the Protégé scheme timeframe. However, all entrants are still asked to undergo the same strict recruitment and selection process.

Non-cognate applicants

If you are studying for:

  • a non-construction related degree or
  • a construction related degree which is not RICS / CIOB accredited, and would like to pursue a career as a professional property and construction consultant, you could be what we are looking for.

What is a Non-Cognate Applicant?

Non-cognates are graduates who have studied for a particular degree (i.e. non-construction related or non RICS / CIOB accredited), and now want to convert to a degree which leads to a professional construction qualification.

We offer support and encourage non-cognate applications. Why? Because we want to attract the best and brightest applicants from all avenues.

Many students enter into a degree without a clear view of their future career. We recognise this, and support those who are motivated enough to retrain as property and construction professionals.

What do I need to do?

Firstly, you will need a conversion degree or postgraduate diploma (PgDip). These are offered at a number of universities and can be completed through day/block release or distance-learning programs.

Do I have to have completed a technical degree?

No. Universities offering conversion courses accept applicants from a wide range of non-technical subjects, and at various levels.

Do I get paid while I am converting?

We offer a full graduate training program and support you through your study. We will assist you financially and offer moral support, all the way through to chartered status.

Placements, Sponsorships and Internships

At RLB, we relish the prospect of taking on the brightest cognate undergraduates at the earliest possible stage.

We offer sponsorship, learning support and work experience for the best undergraduates on RICS / CIOB accredited courses. Once they’ve successfully completed their studies, we can help them become the rising stars of the future.

We offer about ten sponsorships each year, but competition is fierce.
