Following a nationwide competition, Innovate UK has awarded £72 million to the Transforming Construction Alliance to deliver a national Core Innovation Hub, a key element of the Transforming Construction programme. The alliance brings together the specialist expertise of the MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre), BRE (Building Research Establishment) and the CDBB (University of Cambridge Centre for Digital Built Britain).

This is a core delivery strand of the Government’s Industrial Strategy – Construction Sector Deal, and follows the launch on 20 November of the Transforming Construction Network Plus – a £2m Innovate UK joint award to UCL, Imperial College and University of Warwick for a programme of research, events, and short projects (which other academics can bid for).

The Transforming Construction Alliance (TCA) is a consortium of the MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre), BRE (Building Research Establishment) and the CDBB (Centre for Digital Built Britain).

Ann Bentley, Global Board Director RLB UK and member of the Construction Leadership Council said: “It is great to see this investment for innovation within the sector.  This is real evidence of the joint Industry/Government commitment to deliver the Industrial Strategy – Construction Sector Deal. The Core Innovation Hub and Network Plus are important steps in delivering change to our industry”
