Rider Levett Bucknall UK has announced a boost in its infrastructure leadership team adding two senior hires, following a number of significant client wins in 2020 leading to a 25% growth in revenue YOY.

Michelle Hayhurst, will be commercial lead within the Infrastructure team, comes with a wealth of experience growing and leading commercial and procurement teams. Michelle has notably worked within the rail and utilities sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, National Grid, Midland Metro and Severn Trent Water.

Simon Pledger, who will lead on Project Management in the Infrastructure team, Simon has extensive experience delivering programmes and projects within multiple safety critical sectors, in delivery, engineering, assurance, operational and functional management roles . Most recently he completed two years supporting the development of the National Projects Management Organisation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a remit of improving government infrastructure projects delivery.

The recruitment of this talent to the team comes on the back of RLB winning projects including:

  • additional work for HS1 across the assurance sector (consultancy and audit)
  • the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority for the Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro, and
  • the West Yorkshire Combined Authority on a multi-discipline framework for eight separate local authorities.

RLB has already played its part in the Construction Leadership Council and by delivering some of the leading innovative projects happening in infrastructure at present, including the Very Light Railway for Coventry and Dudley. We are delighted to be involved in a growing number or projects that will drive the economy, as well as improve the social and physical infrastructure of the UK. To help us continue to deliver these programmes for our current and future clients, we needed to broaden our team and welcome both Michelle and Simon.”

RLB infrastructure clients include High Speed 2 (HS2), Highways England; Coventry and Dudley Very Light Rail (VLR), Associated British Ports (ABP), Manchester Airport Group as well as having involvement with government and industry bodies such as the CLC, IPA, RICS and ICE to help shape the future of the infrastructure sector in the UK.
