NOU ESPAI BARCA
RLB acted as quantity surveyor for the feasibility study of the new stadium plans for FC Barcelona.
RLB worked on two viable options; to develop a new stadium, or to develop the existing structure.
In January 2014, FC Barcelona chose to remain in the existing location and redevelop Camp Nou. The estimated cost is €600 million and the four-year project is expected to start in 2017.
The proposed design increases capacity from 98,000 to 106,000 and includes improved functionality in terms of accessibility, sustainability and quality. Upgrading hospitality and VIP facilities will also be a key improvement.
Camp Nou includes three main areas: the stadium, a new Palau Blaugrana for 12,500 spectators and the Espai Barça (Barça Area), which involves multi-purpose buildings being integrated into the district. As part of the project the existing mini stadium is being relocated to the training ground with a capacity of 6,000.
