THAMES TOWER

Re-thinking a Reading landmark

READING, ENGLAND

THAMES TOWER

RLB has been appointed to remodel and refurbish one of Reading's most prominent office buildings. Extending it from 12 to 16 storeys, for a potential workforce of 1,500.

The project will involve the refurbishment and remodelling of 23,225 square metres of office space. This includes a five-floor 23,200 square-metre vertical extension, revised service and common areas, enhanced landscaping and combined public realm improvements.
Improved amenities will include a penthouse office, a new restaurant and a roof terrace and double-height ground floor with ‘touchdown spaces’.
Designed to achieve an EPC ‘B’ rating and BREAAM Very Good rating, with enhanced sustainability features such as energy-efficient air conditioning and rooftop solar photovoltaics.
RLB provided pre- and post- contract cost planning, project management, CDM and technical review services.
We also assisted the contractor and employer in the logistics of erecting a tower crane in close proximity to the main railway line. Our previous project experience in similar scenarios was crucial.
