Bringing local knowledge with global learnings, leading independent construction, property and management consultant, Rider Levett Bucknall UK, grows it North East offering with the opening of a Newcastle city centre office in Portland House, New Bridge Street West.

The office, that opens this week, builds on RLB’s success in the North East that includes collaborating with clients such as Sunderland Council, Swift Academies, Sunderland’s Vaux Brewery, Weardale Lithium, Consort Healthcare at Durham NHS Trust NHS and the Durham Constabulary as well as being part of the NEPO (North East Procurement Organisation) Framework.

RLB already has a number of its team living and working in the North East, who have an established reputation for providing a holistic service offering to clients in the region when it comes to estate development and management.  The new office shows an additional investment to the region and boosts their existing support that includes the sponsorship of a female student who started studying for her degree in Quantity Surveying at Northumbria University.

This long-term commitment to education and training initiatives in the North East also sees the RLB team working closely with Northumbria University acting as guest lecturers plus regularly supporting careers fairs and webcasts. The RLB team has also recently recruited a Building Surveying student to start a placement year in September 2024 within its Built Asset Consultancy service. As well as bringing social value to the region, the RLB team will run the office at Portland House under the same sustainable principles that RLB globally adhere to – reducing, recycling, reusing where possible – to help RLB achieve its pledge to be carbon zero by 2025.

Lucy Fisher, Senior Associate, and lead for Built Asset Consultancy in RLB Newcastle, comments,

“As someone who was born and bred in the region and attended Northumbria University, it’s really exciting to have our own office space within Newcastle city centre. RLB has been operating within the region for a while now and the opening of a regional office here shows that we want not only to have roots in the city but to grow our presence – creating more jobs, supporting the local economy and ultimately through our work helping maintain and build for the future of the region.”

“The Yorkshire, Humber and North East region has always been instrumental for RLB and its growth,” continues Managing Partner for the region, Matt Summerhill. “With the area traditionally known for its skills and manufacturing, we have had the privilege of being involved in many of the private and public sector developments over the five decades of working in the region. Investing in office space and our teams shows we continue to be serious about business in the North East and have a long-term commitment to its growth and supporting its economy.”
