Upgrading and extending a portfolio of hotels

MONTPELLIER CHAPTER HOTELS, EXETER AND MAGDALEN CHAPTER

When Swire Properties acquired a portfolio of hotels in the UK to launch the Chapter Hotels brand, RLB acted as quantity surveyor, project manager and building surveyor working on two major refurbishment and hotel projects.

Montpellier Chapter:
This 61-bedroom hotel in Cheltenham had a disjointed extension; a series of wings off a Georgian Villa.
An improved extension was done by creating a crescent wing – placing the existing hotel around a central courtyard.
New revenue generating facilities were also included, such as dining areas and a spa.
Magdalen Chapter:
The second project is a 60-bedroom hotel in Exeter
The roof space was extended to add guestrooms, and new annex buildings for an outdoor swimming pool and spa. A new courtyard lounge space provided food and beverage settings.
